Hello

What is a Gulf?

1โ€“2 minutes

A gulf is a deep inlet of the sea almost surrounded by land, with a narrow mouth.

A gulf is a large body of saltwater partially enclosed by land, typically larger than a bay. It is characterized by a deep indent in the coastline, forming a significant recess from the ocean or sea

Gulfs often have strategic economic and geopolitical importance due to their size and the access they provide to land. They are generally used as important shipping routes.

Ex: Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Mexico, Persian Gulf and others.

A large bay may also be called a Gulf.
