Vikramaditya, one of the bravest and just kings to have ruled over the Indian subcontinent once found himself forced into a cave in the middle of a War. He was hurt and was bleeding. Closing the only entrance to the cave, tired and dejected, Vikramaditya sat down and rested himself over a boulder. His troops had suffered heavy losses and the ranks had been penetrated. For all he knew, this war was lost and it would be better to surrender and negotiate. The cave was washed by the dim sunlight permeating through the cracks here and there and Vikaramaditya remained pensive.
As he sat and rested, he saw a spider trying to weave a web. It was trying to connect two points, one on the wall and the other on the roof. The spider would begin climbing and would slip mid way and slide down to the floor. It would start its arduous journey up again. This went on and on for a long time. 19 times the spider climbed and 19 times it slipped. The 20th time, the spider succeeded. Vikaramaditya, looking at the spider learnt an important lesson. He managed to summon enough energy and safely get back to his troops, motivate and lead them to a victory.
Try and try again till you succeed. If you fail in your journey to greatness, get up, dust yourself and keep surging ahead. The only time you are really static is when you are not moving. So, keep trudging along the right path irrespective of the pace. Never stop.
